New Taipei City Unveils Smart City Business Alliance
New Taipei City Mayor Eric Liluan Chu announces the inauguration of “New Taipei City Smart City Business Alliance” during a press conference on March 22th. Commercial officials from 13 nations and representatives from 17 associations promoting smart city also take part in the event to show their support.
Mayor Chu indicates that New Taipei City has been chosen by Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) as one of the top 7 intelligent communities several times. A total of 25,000 commercial corporations and 20,000 factories clustered in the City. The economic environment featuring complete segments gives the City an edge to build up smart city business. He also points out the City invites 30 buyers from 10 nations to participate in the event. The visiting group engages in one-to-one trade talk with members of New Taipei City Smart City Industry Alliance, expecting to explore opportunities of international cooperation.
The alliance facilitates the network building among stakeholders involving smart city business. Its major goals include: to develop business models, to create experimental environment and to trigger industrial transformation, according to the Department of Economic Development (DOED). The smart city alliance consists of 60 company members. A total of 150 trade talks will be held after the alliance inauguration.
The DOED pointed out the introduction of Smart City Alliance is just the beginning. The municipal government will facilitate the development of Smart City companies by offering them priority to acquire subsidy from the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program initiated by the central government.
