3. Introduction to Miami-Dade County

Miami-Dade is a diverse county in the proximity of  both  the Caribbean and Latin American countries. International trades and tourism are the two main industries underpin the economy of the county . The Port of Miami-Dade is known as South Florida’s primary bulk cargo port whilst the Miami International Airport together with PortMiami are the key enablers of tourism in the region.

 The county is home to dozens of international headquarters including the Burger King, Norwegian Cruise Line, Brightstar Logistics, Intradeco and HP etc. Miami City is a major center and leader in  in commerce, business, media , entertainment, the arts and international trade and home to scores of the Latin American headquarters of multinational companies including but not limited to American Airline, Disney, Fedex,  Microsoft, Oracle, AT&T as well as Sony.

4. Recent Interactions

(1)On May 31st 2011, a three member delegation led by the City Mayor Mr. Tomás Pedro Regalado (  Requel Regalado, the daughter of the mayor and an elected member of the Miami -Dade County School Board came along ) paid an official visit to the New Taipei City Mayor Mr. Eric Chu.

(2)On April 21st 2016, a 12 member delegation led by Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz paid the New Taipei City Mayor an official visit. The two parties exchanged ideas on city policies, trade and commerce , tourism, education, culture and seeked opportunities for future cooperation. After the meeting, the delegation was given a tour at the Ying-ge Ceramics Museum. 

(3)On January 2017, the City Mayor of New Taipei, Eric Liluan Chu Visited Miami-Dade county.
